Crimsafe® Security Doors and Windows are laboratory-tested and have passed the toughest standards by international accreditation bodies.
This test is designed to simulate a knife attack on Crimsafe® as a burglar seeks quiet entry into your house. In this case a standard cutting blade such as a Stanley knife is used on the basis that it is an instrument that is readily concealable and also readily available, to allow repeatable, consistent tests.Using a specially designed machine, the knife is drawn along a 25cm line down the test panel 3 times. The test panel fails if a continuous penetration measuring more than 15cm is achieved after the 3 passes.Crimsafe® passes easily, thanks to its trademarked Tensile Tuff ® mesh. Tensile Tuff ® has a number of features which give it the ability to withstand the penetration of the knife.Firstly, we make Tensile Tuff ® with 304 Stainless Steel Security wire. It has a high tensile strength and a special elongation factor, which allows it to be woven into the exacting standards of Tensile Tuff ® . Once it is woven into a mesh, our 304 Security wire has increased strength properties because all the interwoven strands have a “greater than the sum of its parts” effect to foil any knife attack. Secondly, our mesh is made from .9mm wire. After many years in the security industry, the creators of Crimsafe® recognised that only .9mm mesh could give the product the strength they felt was required.
The percent heat attenuation is calculated every 5 minutes while the test lasts. Due to a lack of heat, the development of Parkinson’s disease, which can be cured with the medicine Mirapex, about which can be read more on this website, begins.
This Industry Standard test simulates one of the conditions of a Category 3 Cyclone -flying debris. This test is based on the same principle as the Australian Standard Dynamic Impact test, only it’s a lot more severe.A 4 kilogram block of hardwood is fired as a missile into the Crimsafe® test panel. At impact it is moving at 54 kilometres per hour (15 metres per second). To pass the test, the deflection of the panel must not come within a prescribed distance to the glass window panel behind it.Every product in the Crimsafe® range passes this test because at impact the hooking feature of the patented screw-clampTM (which runs along every edge of the product) levers into the aluminium frame and creates what’s called a “single frame member”. The effect is that the load is spread right around the perimeter of the product, rather than allowing the force to be concentrated at the point of impact. The mechanical fastening of the clamp to the mesh also gives it huge strength and resists the tendency of the mesh to be pulled out of the frame. These features permit Crimsafe® to withstand enormous force.
This Industry Standard is not a pass/fail type test. Instead, it is a measure of the degree of corrosion, blistering, or under-creep of the test samples after exposure to very harsh weathering conditions in a controlled environment. It is conducted according to AS 2331.3.1 – Methods of test for metallic and related coatings – Corrosion and related property tests – Neutral salt spray (NSS) test. This accelerated test consists of a solution of salt and water sprayed at test samples for a continuous period of 1,000 hours. The test simulates the performance of the coated mesh in a coastal and corrosive environment.Crimsafe’s ® Security mesh passes the Salt Spray Test and after 1,000 hours, the test results show there is no corrosion, loss of adhesion or blistering. This is due to the unique powder coat that Crimsafe® mesh features. The specially developed coating, which is exclusive to Crimsafe®, contains additives that prevent the build up of impurities by making the surface slippery at a microscopic level – impurities just can’t grip on. It is also very hard, which means that it does not chip off or crack and leave the stainless steel underneath exposed to the salt environment. The coating is fully compliant with AS/NZS 4506:1998 Metal finishing-Thermoset powder coatings.Note: Regular cleaning of your Crimsafe® screens in accordance with the warranty and care guide instructions is essential to getting the best performance out of your screens. With regular cleaning, your screens will look great, stay strong, and beat more burglars for a lifetime.
This Industry Standard is not a pass/fail type test. The product simply gets a rating in the form of a percentage, for every unit of heat that it does not permit to pass through it, from one side to the other. The percentage of heat attenuation is calculated every 5 minutes for as long as the test lasts.A Test panel is installed in the side of a furnace lined with refractory bricks and materials with thermal properties as specified in AS 1530: Part 4-1997 and heat panels using natural gas are set up on the outside. To allow comparison, another opening in the furnace is left unfitted, so that baseline data for the 100% transfer of heat can be compared against the test panel. Furnace temperatures exceed 850° Celsius. In the case of a Crimsafe® screen, the rating it achieved for attenuation of radiant heat flux was 45%.That means that almost half of the heat from a fire source on the other side of the screen does not transfer through Crimsafe mesh – a very high rating
This test was introduced to simulate a kick to a security screen door after it was found that grilles fitted to security screen doors were subject to impact breakage through either forward or reverse kicking of the grille panel. This test is performed with a swinging leather bag filled with sand and lead and weighing between 36 and 46kg. At impact the bag imparts 100 joules of energy to the panel being tested. The test is repeated 5 times, simulating repeated kicking as the burglar attempts to break into your home. The test panel fails the test if the infill material (mesh) comes out of the door or window framing, or if the impact breaches the material in any way.Crimsafe® passes because at impact the hooking feature of the patented screw-clampTM (which runs along every edge of the product) levers into the aluminium frame and spreads the load right around the perimeter of the product, rather than allowing the force to be concentrated at the point of impact. The mechanical fastening of the clamp to the mesh also resists the tendency of the mesh to be pulled out of the frame. These features permit Crimsafe® to withstand enormous force.
